"...a buoyant and determined pop explosion that carries with it a multitude of effervescent melodies and gossamer sounds. " - Joshua Pickard // nooga.com
"Theft of the Sky is a slinky rock track that links together the electro-pop of acts like INXS with bits of 1990s acts like Stabbing Westward and Savage Garden. By making something old and frayed new and alluring, what Texture & Light do on their Inner Space Odyssey is immediately impacting and appeasing to a wide swath of fans." - James McQuiston // NeuFutur Magazine
Trevor's description:
'Theft of the Sky' is more than just an industrial dance groove with fuzzy guitars - it's a no holds barred scathing indictment of our current political / business leaders obsession with the all mighty dollar over every single other thing. It was inspired by Naomi Klein’s book “This Changes Everything”, and was originally born as I was sitting on the shore of a remote mountain lake staring across at large, ugly clear cuts under the light of a full moon.
The lyric “What a cheap trick to use tradition as a reason not to change” could be classified as an ethos that I live my life under - and one that seems to be what all discussions I have with someone on the far right boil down to.
Theft of the Sky is also a dance floor destroyer live, go figure.
lyrics
Is this the cost of doing business?
The price seems a little high
You’ve built yourself quite the system
A money sun and you’re a satellite
Keep the dead trees in the ground, yeah
Keep them down deep in the ground
Oh bite your lip and just take care of it
Before we tear your castle down
Keep the dead trees in the ground, yeah
Keep them down deep in the ground
Your bottom line will take a hit
But just take care of it
Before we bring you suckers down
What a cheap trick to use tradition
As a reason not to change
When in fact you’ve got an addiction
Time to clean those junky veins
Keep the dead trees in the ground, yeah
Keep them down deep in the ground
Oh bite your lip and just take care of it
Before we tear your castle down
Keep the dead trees in the ground, yeah
Keep them down deep in the ground
Your bottom line will take a hit
But just take care of it
Before we bring you suckers down
Your promises, your promises,
Your promises, your promises
Your promises, your promises,
Your promises, your promises
Your promises, your promises,
Your promises, your promises
Don’t mean anything.
